The following steps outline our
design process at Katz & Mouse from initial design to site launch.
FIRST THINGS FIRST
Katz & Mouse encourages our clients to answer the following
questions:
1. What do you want to
accomplish with your web site?
2. What do you want your users to accomplish with this site?
3. What will keep a user on your site?
4. What will encourage a user to return to your web site?
After an initial conversation
with your company, Katz & Mouse will better be able to assess your
timeline, budget and project requirements. A Web Site Proposal with a
cost estimate, list of deliverables, and project timeline will be sent
to you via email. Upon acceptance of the Web Site Proposal, Katz &
Mouse will send a Web Agreement and begin preparations for Stage 1.
STAGE 1
INITIAL DESIGN
After the Web Agreement is
signed, the Initial Design begins. Katz & Mouse uses a
client-centered process to develop the "look and feel" of your web
site. Brainstorming the basic purpose of your web site enables your
company to articulate a mission that will drive your team, focus your
site, and eventually attract your users.
With a strong vision and
inspiration from your company, Katz & Mouse creates several design
trials for the home page template. From these, your company selects a
design direction that we then develop into a fully functional design in
Stage 2.
STAGE 2
PROTOTYPE AND PROGRAMMING
After a client signs off on the
final design, the prototype and programming begin. The purpose of the
prototype is to determine whether the chosen design direction scales
well across the entire site. During this stage, Katz & Mouse delivers a fully operational HTML home page template
and secondary and tertiary page templates. Finished media elements and
graphics are also processed and compressed into their respective
Internet formats.
STAGE 3
BETA TESTING, SITE LAUNCH AND PROMOTION
Your site will be thoroughly
tested by the Katz & Mouse Testing Team. Your site will be tested
with multiple browsers on multiple platforms. At this time, we urge you
to test the site yourself and provide feedback. Any non-working
functionality will be corrected. Any browser or platform incompatibilities will be
fixed as much as possible.
Katz & Mouse goes the extra
step to include META tags on your pages. These META tags describe the
information on the web page and assist in higher ranking in search
engines. Additionally Katz & Mouse will submit your site for
listing in major search engines, and provide a report showing your
ranking in major search engines. (Search engine ranking cannot be
guaranteed, as ranking may change erratically due to outside
influences.)
